In an effort to bring a better quality of life to homeless children and their families across the nation, Horizons for Homeless Children develops and implements programs and designs and provides training. We are committed to sharing our expertise with a wide range of providers, including providers of homeless services, early care and education services, teachers, Early Intervention specialists, social workers, homeless education liaisons and others who work with young homeless children and their families.
Train your staff and volunteers Training is an essential component of any program serving homeless children and families. Horizons for Homeless Children can provide you with the appropriate training to meet the needs of your staff and volunteers.
Assist in creating play environments in family shelters in your community Horizons for Homeless Children has established or assisted in establishing over 75 play environments in shelters nationwide. These environments can be designed to meet the needs of homeless children in your community.
Provide presentations, seminars and workshops We offer sessions on topics such as "The Impact of Homelessness on Children and Families" and "The Special Needs and Behaviors of Homeless Children." Workshops as well as half, full or 2-day institutes can be tailored to meet your training needs.
Offer assistance on preschool curricula Horizons for Homeless Children can provide, enhance or modify curricula that will meet the specific needs of the homeless children you serve.
Create networks of service providers Collaboration and networking among service providers is a valuable way to access information and resources. We can help you plan for cross-training opportunities in your community to better support homeless children and families.
