Representative Jamie Murphy attended the official opening of the Playspace to support and celebrate Horizons for Homeless Children's efforts in making a difference in the lives of homeless children and families. On March 3, Horizons for Homeless Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of homeless children in Massachusetts, rededicated a "Playspace" (educational and recreational space) for homeless children living at Friends of the Homeless Family Shelter, a program that provides housing for families and/or pregnant women in need of temporary shelter. The Playspace provides homeless children at the shelter with a fun, safe and stimulating environment in which to learn, grow and play, and comes equipped with books, play equipment and art supplies.
