Event ideas include:

Traditional:
Evening event in your home – invite friends and neighbors who might have an interest in Horizons for Homeless Children; serve wine and hors d’oeuvres in the evening or consider alternatives like Sunday brunch or afternoon tea.  Share a story about your relationship with Horizons for Homeless Children.

Twist on the Traditional:
Create a twist to your Friends’ Event by creating a theme or activity.  For example, turn your event into a book or toy drive where the guests bring books or toys for children at the Community Children’s Centers; or, sponsor a classroom or Playspace and invite guests to bring toys and supplies to re-stock frequently used play items!

A Change of Scenery - with the kids:
Consider a local playground or indoor play space and include the entire family.  For example, a shopping evening before the holidays; perhaps a local toy store or bookstore may partner with you to invite guests to shop and donate a portion of the proceeds to Horizons for Homeless Children. Guests can learn more about Horizons for Homeless Children, include their children, and also have the chance to enjoy social time together.

A Corporate Setting:
You may find that guests are willing to gather at a non-traditional time or place. Consider your place of work - perhaps a boardroom breakfast for a smaller group might be appropriate. Include those who might be able to attend a quick meeting in the morning or over lunch. Or, focus on your own workplace - include staff from the most junior to the highest-ranking.  You never know who might be looking for a new volunteer opportunity!

Remember: whatever option you choose, you are making a difference in the life of a homeless child.
