9th Annual Women's Breakfast Raises Over $700,000! Dr. Maya Angelou Gives Powerful and Meaningful Presentation.
The 9th Annual Women's Breakfast took place on Wednesday, October 10th at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston and over 1,600 people gathered to listen to Dr. Maya Angelou speak and support the work being done by Horizons for Homeless Children.
As a result, over $700,000 was raised for the programs and services of Horizons for Homeless Children, which reaches out to homeless children and families across the state.
This year, Horizons for Homeless Children was honored to present Dr. Maya Angelou as keynote speaker of the 9th Annual Women's Breakfast. Dr. Angelou's performance was truly inspiring and featured a reading of some of her finest poems, including A Brave and Startling Truth, a poem she was asked to write for the 50th anniversary of the United Nations.
Emceed by WBZ-TV's Liz Walker, Host, Sunday with Liz Walker, the event also included an appearance by Massachusetts First Lady Diane Patrick.
Since 1999, the Women’s Breakfast has brought together a dedicated group of women to celebrate the efforts and achievements of Horizons for Homeless Children and to focus their shared determination on helping to solve the crisis of child and family homelessness.
