Horizons for Homeless Children held its 8th Annual Women’s Breakfast on Wednesday, October 18th at the Westin Hotel Copley Place.  The event raised $400,000, making it the most financially successful Women’s Breakfast to date for Horizons for Homeless Children.  The funds will be used to deliver programs and services to homeless children and their families across Massachusetts.

The event was emceed by Channel 4’s Liz Walker and the program featured Dr. Bertice Berry, nationally recognized sociologist, author, lecturer and educator. At the Women’s Breakfast, Dr. Berry’s passionate and emotional address created a palpable energy in the room as she reflected on today’s society and how each of us as individuals can make a contribution that leads to a positive outcome.

Since 1999, the Women’s Breakfast has brought together a dedicated group of women to celebrate the efforts and achievements of Horizons for Homeless Children and to focus their shared determination on helping to solve the crisis of child and family homelessness.  The 8th Annual Women’s Breakfast was attended by almost 1,000 people, including Angela Menino, Marie Turley, Director of Boston Women’s Commission and State Representative Liz Malia.  “The Women’s Breakfast is one of the most successful fundraisers on our calendar,” said Sue Heilman, Executive Director of Horizons for Homeless Children. “It brings people together in a positive setting, people who all have one thing in common – they are driven to improve the lives of homeless children in our communities.”
