Liz is a seasoned marathon runner, having run the Boston Marathon three times and a total of sixteen marathons worldwide! She has also completed two Ironman distance triathlons (2.4m swim, 112m bike, 26.2m run) and numerous 5 and 10k runs. Liz was a volunteer physician at Birmingham Healthcare for the Homeless during her medical residency and therefore has seen up-close the needs of the young homeless population. Michael will be running his first Boston Marathon, and his first with the HHC Team, because of his son Nate. Nate received a tour of HHC and was very impressed by the teachers and students - but Nate was determined to give more. After donating all the money in his piggy bank, Nate "donated" his father. Lisa was a volunteer Playspace Activity Leader for HHC in 2003 and is now stepping up to run with our team! This will be Lisa's first marathon, though she is a runner and has completed the Falmouth Triathlon among other races. Carlos recently became a Horizons for Homeless Children PAL (Playspace Activity Leader) and is glad to have the opportunity to work with the kids. He strongly believes in providing a venue for children so that they may build their confidence for the future. Nick has run two half marathons and just completed his first full marathon in Miami in January - Congratulations Nick! Nick's dream has always been to run the Boston Marathon and he feels fortunate to run for Horizons for Homeless Children. When he was a child, Nick's family took in two homeless teens who had nowhere to go. Nick saw firsthand how his mother's kindness and unconditional love made a difference in their lives. Nick is committed to helping those in need and strongly believes that true fulfillment in life comes from giving to others.
