Training & Technical Assistance Director

About Horizons for Homeless Children

Horizons for Homeless Children (HHC) was founded in 1988 as an independent, non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to serving young homeless children and their families. HHC touches the lives of more than 2,200 young homeless children each week in Massachusetts through Playspaces (educational and recreational spaces) in shelters and 175 children through its three Community Children's Centers, Boston's only comprehensive, full-time early education and childcare centers specifically for young homeless children. In addition to direct service, we advocate on behalf of young homeless children and their families with policy makers and provide training and technical assistance to related service providers.

Position Summary

HHC has recently redesigned and expanded its training and technical assistance agenda and is increasing partnerships with external organizations. Additionally, we have recently instituted a comprehensive internal evaluation strategy aimed at measuring success and growth in HHC's early learning programs. Both changes are complemented by an expanded research agenda focused on better understanding the developmental and learning needs of homeless children in general.

HHC seeks a creative and motivated Training & Technical Assistance Director to lead the Training and Technical Assistance team of inter-departmental staff by contributing to internal and external knowledge development and developing our thought leadership on children experiencing homelessness. This individual will lead and support a variety of projects related to training, technical assistance, and presentations to external organizations and conferences; work on in-depth  materials development for webinar series and college credit coursework as well as oversee the planning of the annual HHC Young Children Without Homes Annual Conference.

This individual will oversee our Lesley University 5-year partnership which encourages student engagement on the issue of child and family homelessness and the implementation of an internship and volunteer program at HHC. We seek an individual who is deeply committed to improving the lives of homeless children, approaches projects with a sense of possibility and eagerness, and infuses work with creativity, rigor, and open-mindedness.

The Training & Technical Assistance Director will report to the Chief Education & Training Officer, as well as collaborate with other members of HHC's leadership and executive team.
