Horizons for Homeless Children (HHC) is an independent, non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to serving homeless children and their families. We are seeking a high energy, enthusiastic candidate for this key position to manage the Playspace Programs Northeast Region. The Northeast Region Playspace Programs Director will be responsible for marketing (the program), recruiting and training a growing number of volunteers from all aspects of the community, businesses, corporations, religious organizations and educational facilities and for managing a shelter network of 20+ shelter programs across the Northeast Region. Overview:
The Playspace Programs Northeast Region Director will be responsible for recruitment, training and managing over 200 volunteers in 20+ shelter programs.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Market the Playspace Programs Volunteer Program to maintain and expand outreach efforts that help us meet the specific volunteer needs of our shelter programs
- Oversee 5 volunteer trainings and the placement process
- Cultivate relationships with area shelter staff
- Maintain database for all training and outreach activities, and for active and potential volunteers
- Complete market analysis and periodic reports on all aspects of the program
Required Skills and Competencies:
- BA required, MA preferred
- Previous experience with marketing and recruitment of volunteers in the social sector
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong ability to build relationships and provide excellent customer service
- Public speaking skills
- Knowledge of child development, homelessness or "at risk" populations a plus
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Valid drivers license and access to a car
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Data entry/experience and knowledge of Windows '98, Microsoft Word, Access and Excel
