Dear Friend of HHC,
After more than 18 years of building and leading Horizons for Homeless Children, Sue Heilman has decided to step down as CEO, effective as of August 13. We thank Sue for her extraordinary leadership. When she began in 1992, there was essentially no public awareness of child homelessness, very few services in Massachusetts for young homeless children, and no organization focused on them. Today, under Sue's leadership, Horizons for Homeless Children has grown into the largest organization in the country focusing on homeless children, operating three nationally-recognized preschools for homeless children, providing services to more than 2,000 homeless children throughout the Commonwealth each week, and leading efforts to build awareness about homeless children at the state and federal levels. HHC is in its strongest financial position ever, thanks to her tireless efforts to complete a $25 million campaign which concluded a year ago having raised more than $30 million. We thank Sue for her extraordinary commitment to homeless children and their families, and for building an organization that is well-positioned to lead in the future. Sue is leaving the organization in excellent hands. Åsa Fanelli, the recently appointed President, brings over 15 years of broad-based leadership experience in global non-profit and for-profit organizations, and together with long-standing and new members of the Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team and dedicated staff, she looks forward to carrying on the work that Sue helped get started.
We feel extremely fortunate to have had Sue's leadership for so many years. We hope to have many opportunities for continued collaboration with Sue in the months and years ahead.
Sincerely,

Matt Epstein HHC Board Chair
