Horizons for Homeless Children is an independent, non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to providing early care and education services for homeless children and support services for their families in an atmosphere of safety, nurturance, and stability. We have three Community Children's Centers serving a total of 175 children. We are seeking candidates for a Center Director at our Jamaica Plain location. This is a full time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Center Based Programs.
Position Overview
The Center Director will be responsible for the overall management of this center for homeless children and their families. In addition to full-time child care, the center provides support services for the parents. The Center Director is responsible for creating and maintaining a positive atmosphere where children and their parents find safety, nurturance, and stability. The goal of this position is to ensure high quality, developmentally appropriate care in accordance with all external regulations and organizational goals and objectives. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hire Professional staff with the unique qualifications required for this program
- Provide direct supervision for Lead Teachers and the Assistant Director
- Maintain NAEYC curriculum standards
- Maintain DEEC Licensing standards
- Develop appropriate staff trainings
- Implement agency personnel procedures
- Participate in Programs Advisory Board
- Ensure positive relationship with shelters
- Develop annual budget in conjunction with the Director of Center Based Programs
Qualifications:
- BA in ECE or related field required, MA preferred
- Experience in Child Care Administration required
- DEEC Director II qualified
- Experience with homeless or at-risk children and their families required
- Strong managerial skills required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Low to high 50's, depending on education and experience
